The Prime Minister this week confirmed his plans to improve infrastructure in and around Taunton Deane.
During Prime Minister’s Questions on Monday, Mr Cameron was asked a question by the Member of Parliament for Taunton Deane, Rebecca Pow. She said; ‘We need a country where every city, town, village and region benefits from the growing economy. Will the Prime Minister kindly explain how the measures in this Queen’s Speech will bring that about, particularly in relation to my area of the south-west and even more particularly to Taunton Deane, which I would like to make the gateway to the south-west?’.
In his answer he spoke of ‘important infrastructure projects’ including the tunnel under Stonehenge and the upgrade of the A358 and the A303.
The British Chambers of Commerce estimates unblocking the A303 will spark £1.1billion of growth and will bring £74 billion of wider economic benefits over the next sixty years.
Mr Cameron added, ‘crucially for Taunton Deane and the whole of the South West, we must make sure that we deliver on our promises on high-speed broadband.’
