The Rural Living Show, held at Taunton Racecourse over the weekend, hosted a fun run in aid of children’s charity, the NSPCC. Runner’s were encouraged to run the 5km race in fancy dress, though many chose to wear what was most comfortable.
Rebecca Pow, Prospective MP for Taunton Deane, took part in the race, saying “while it may not be the London Marathon, the fun run here at Taunton Racecourse has been excellent! The sun has been shining and some of the costumes have been really good. It has been very friendly and relaxed. Congratulations must go to the organiser, Moira Smyth, who has done a brilliant job putting the fun run together so successfully”.
The Rural Living Show, now in its second year, has proven a great success, with approximately 6,500 people attending this year. Visitors can browse rural arts and craft products, or sample local food and drink. There was a fantastic selection and variety on offer.
On Sunday, along with the Fun Run, approximately 100 classic cars arrived at the Racecourse to create a wonderful display of old cars for the public to view.
