The 8th Christmas Tree Festival held at the Taunton United Reformed Church was a magical event. Prospective Conservative MP, Rebecca Pow was welcomed by church organisers who had attracted 24 not for profit organisations to take part in the festival, the biggest and the best yet. Each organisation decorated their own tree and included information about their enterprise:
‘This was a dazzling spectacle’ enthused Rebecca Pow, ‘ it is a wonderful idea which showcases just how many groups and charities there are working in Taunton Deane for the wider good. The groups included organisations such as Somerset Cancer Care, the Taunton Team Chaplaincy, The Open Door and many more besides, representing an army of volunteers all working for the good of others or to enrich our society in some way and this was a fabulous way of highlighting them and fund raising at the same time. In the lead up to Christmas it was a thought provoking way of making us think about those less fortunate than ourselves.’
