A part-time caseworker (20 hours) is required to join Rebecca’s busy team in her Taunton Deane constituency office to assist in progressing casework and correspondence and supporting constituents with their problems.
The job will involve:
* Dealing with constituents' correspondence/progressing casework
* Drafting responses to constituents on any issues raised on behalf of the Member
* Providing information, advice and support to constituents over the phone, face to face, or in writing
* Liaising with Government agencies, the voluntary and community sector, local authorities and others to resolve problems
* Answering the telephone, dealing effectively and sensitively with callers
* Assisting with office administration including diary enquiries, arranging meetings and other tasks supporting the running of the office, including filing and keeping records.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, responsible, reliable, accurate and able to work as part of a small team with an organised but flexible approach to dealing with issues. He/she will have an interest in helping people and will be able to learn quickly, work efficiently under pressure using their own initiative and independently with minimum supervision and will have:
* Excellent IT skills experienced in using Microsoft Office programmes, Outlook and the internet
* A courteous telephone manner, able to listen and obtain essential details quickly, politely and accurately
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and to work as part of a small team
* Good organisational and accurate administrative skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
* Experience of dealing with the public
Previous experience of working in a constituency office or undertaking confidential casework is preferred but attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and an empathy and understanding of the types of problems facing constituents is essential. A good knowledge of the local area would be an advantage.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).
