This week, the MP for Wellington, Rebecca Pow asked the Rail Minister, Claire Perry; ‘Does the Minister agree with me that the town of Wellington is an excellent candidate for a new metro rail station?’ Rebecca commented that the recent petition to local residents showed an overwhelming amount of support for the new station and the feasibility study, carried out by Taunton Deane Borough Council, showed an economic benefit to the area.
She then asked the Minister to clarify the next steps that would need to be taken to qualify for funding for the new metro rail station in Wellington.
Minister, Claire Perry was positive in her response, praising our MP for her hard work in raising the profile of the proposed station. She confirmed that she is looking forward to seeing proposals for the plans and said that the terms and conditions for the New Stations Fund has been changed, making it easier to access the monies available.
