On Sunday the Priorswood Allotments in Taunton opened for the first time in aid of the National Gardens Scheme, gardens open for charity. I popped along to support them and to have a good look at what was being grown and as always to pick up a few gardening tips! (Loved the cape gooseberries, the cookery demos and the various methods people are using to stop cabbage white butteflies getting at their brassicas!)
It was a fantastic display. It’s a 5 ½ acre site with 156 plots burgeoning with home grown produce. The area is a haven amidst houses in the centre of Taunton and a wonderful green and useable space. Well done to Rosemary Berry who worked so hard to organise the event, to all the plot holders on getting the place looking so ship shape and of course to the fine team at the NGS!
