Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow called into her local William Hill shop on Friday (27th) to support their ‘Football Shirt Friday’ initiative.
This year marks the third year that William Hill have held the event, in conjunction with the Bobby Moore Fund for Bowel Cancer Research, as part of their ‘Close to HOME community commitment, which looks to support the areas where they are based as a company. For a £2 donation, staff and customers across the country wear a football shirt to show their support and as a result, William Hill have raised a massive £144,000 in sponsorship and fundraising so far.
Whilst visiting the store, Rebecca placed a £50 bet, on Liverpool and Bristol Rovers winning their upcoming games. If successful, she has chosen for her winnings will be donated to the Somerset Bowel Cancer Support Group. However, if not successful then the £50 stake will be donated instead.
Commenting on her visit Rebecca said, ‘I was delighted to visit William Hill to support their Football Shirt Friday initiative. Bowel Cancer affects so many across the UK, with roughly 110 new cases every day and early diagnosis is crucial to recovery. I am pleased that William Hill are helping to raise money for this important cause and I am delighted to be able to play my part.’
