Wellington company, Apple Campers based at Foxmoor Business Park was amongst the winners in the recent Taunton Business Incentive Awards. Prospective Conservative MP for Taunton Deane, who runs a small local business herself, was amongst the guests:
‘The Taunton Business Incentive awards event was a real success. By highlighting excellence amongst our small to medium sized businesses in Taunton Deane it helps to illustrate just how important these businesses are to our local economy. Without exception all the businesses who entered this competition report that they have recently expanded and have been taking on more staff and Apple Campers are no exception. This is a family run business specialising in everything relating to motorhomes, caravans and campers and they are thriving thanks to the upturn in the economy. Andy Mcphail set up the business just under 2 years ago and runs the company with partner Emma slocombe and they have expanded so quickly that they have had to move to a larger premises and now employ 5 staff included a new apprentice who had trained at Somerset College.
It shows what can be achieved with the right economic framework, something the Conservatives in government have worked hard to achieve, and the right support locally in terms of grants, advice and opportunities.’
Apple Campers were runners-up in the £101,000 - £1 million turn over category. Winners in this section were Mastergen, a new business specialising in supplying dairy and beef semen.
