Newly elected Prospective Conservative MP for Taunton Deane, Rebecca Pow, made her first outing in her new role, joining the special community tea party at the Priorswood Diamond Jubilee Garden:
‘This was a perfect place to start,’ says Rebecca ‘being a keen gardener myself I appreciate how valuable gardens are to us all in so many ways. Working in a garden in practical terms is very therapeutic and simply enjoying the beauty of nature and flowers in our gardens offers rest and relaxation. This garden at Priorswood, in a previously concrete space, is celebrating its first year. It’s a wonderful example of people working together for the common good and it’s a great asset to the area now.’
The garden was created with grant funding in aid of the North Taunton Partnership as well as much voluntary effort from locals, organiser, Leslie Thomas and Chairman of the Trustees Sue Kilbey. It is one of the Mayor’s Charities for 2013-14.
