Taking up an invitation from Prospective Conservative MP Rebecca Pow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Sajid Javid made a special visit to Wellington to visit the exclusive Fox Bros & Co woollen mill.
Cloth has been woven at this historic site for centuries to supply iconic well known fashion houses around the world including Hermes, Ralph Lauren and Yves St Laurent. Prospective Conservative MP Rebecca Pow said:
‘This business has a recently entered a new phase under the able hand of Douglas Cordeaux. They continue to utilise the highly specialised skills of local people to produce products of extraordinary quality for the international market. The business has plans to forge new links with the agricultural wool trade to provide the crucial raw materials needed for the cloth and links with local colleges to develop courses relevant to the industry so that students are being equipped with the right skills for this business. If elected next week as our MP I will do all that I can to push these links forward. ‘
Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Sajid Javid said: ‘I am delighted that Rebecca Pow, our hard working Prospective Conservative MP brought me to Taunton Deane to see this extraordinary operation for myself. Fox Bros is the kind of British business we should all be proud of and be promoting even further on the international stage. Only by returning a majority Conservative government on May 7th, with a successful plan for the economy at its core, can we ensure the right framework for businesses such as this to continue to thrive. That is why it is so important that Rebecca Pow, who has already worked so hard to prove her credentials here, must be elected.’
