Leading South West accountancy firm, Albert Goodman, recently welcomed Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow, to its Taunton office, to celebrate its commitment to the development of trainees over its 150 year history.
On Friday 15 January 2015 – 150 years since Albert Goodman was founded – Rebecca Pow MP visited some of the latest trainees who are benefitting from the firm’s outstanding trainee programme, which saw 12 new starters in September 2015. Undergoing professional exams alongside active work on client accounts, Albert Goodman’s trainees have a great reputation of achieving first class results and enjoy long-lasting, successful careers within the accountancy profession, with several of the firm’s Partners starting as trainees.
Rebecca also spent time discussing the importance of apprenticeships and training for young people in the local area and praised Albert Goodman for giving young talent opportunities to progress within the county.
Born and raised in Somerset, Rebecca Pow became the first female member of parliament to represent Taunton Deane in 2015 and recognises the importance of high quality opportunities for young people and the positive impact this has on the local economy. She commented, ‘I was delighted to visit Albert Goodman and to meet so many of their enterprising young people who are on a range of apprenticeships and traineeships with the company. Albert Goodman are making a really important contribution to skilling up young people through a variety of programmes and I applaud their enterprising schemes which are helping to boost the local economy, especially when many of these well trained young people choose to remain in the local area. The Government is set a target for 3m apprenticeships by 2020 and Albert Goodman are making a valuable contribution towards this.’
Proud of the firm’s “home grown” approach to training, David Griffin, Managing Partner at Albert Goodman, said, “We are whole-heartedly committed to the development of all our employees. Our staff are our greatest asset and that is why we continue to invest in their professional development. We work extremely hard to ensure young professionals have the opportunity to excel in their careers, whilst staying in the heart of the South West. We are very proud of our training programme and look forward to the success of the new trainees and the next 150 years of Albert Goodman.”
