Taunton Deane Conservatives have selected Rebecca Pow as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the 2015 General Election. Rebecca has lived in Taunton for 27 years and has raised her three children in the constituency. Both Rebecca and her husband Charles Clark were born and raised in rural Somerset and are heavily involved in the local community.
In August 2020, the Government announced £5.9M funding for projects in Taunton giving the Firepool site the boost it needs to kick-start its development.
In November 2021 work started on the Digital Innovation Centre on Firepool.
I pledged to work to bring a rail station to Wellington when I was first elected to Parliament in 2015; and the prospect of a station is fast becoming a reality I am delighted to say.
Work continues at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton on an ambitious programme to transform the hospital’s facilities.

It has been a long-held ambition of mine, together with many others in the local community to have a cycleway running between Wellington and Taunton adjacent to the extremely busy A38.
Crucially this would make cycling along this route safer, it would encourage more people to get out of their cars
Many of you will know that since being the local MP, I have championed the restoration of the iconic Wellington Monument. Just a few years ago, it might have seemed an impossible goal, given the £4m cost of the restoration and the challenges involved.
Work at Taunton railway station began back in 2019 and the new ticket office at Taunton Railway station and new multi-storey car park opened in 2021.

You may be aware that tragically, a pupil at Taunton International School was recently involved in a fatal accident at the crossing on Greenway Road.
Due to the seriousness of this incident I have met with the head teacher of the school to discuss the best way forward.
